خَواطِرُنا في جودِهِ رُسلُ جودِهِ

فَلِم لا أَتى المَوعودُ مِنهُ عَلى الرُسلِ

Our thoughts of his generosity are messengers of his generosity

Why then hasn't what he promised come through his messengers?

أُنَزِّهُ عَن وَعدِ الكَريمِ عَطاءَهُ

وَما جَلَّ عَن وَعدٍ فَقَد جَلَّ مَطلِ

I absolve the generous one of the blame for his promise

He has never failed to fulfill a promise, so the fault lies with us
