فَلَستُfor I am not أَخاهُits brother بَلrather غَيريsomeone other than me أَخوهُits brother
فَلَستُ أَخاهُ بَل غَيري أَخوهُ
How long will the dinar flee from me?
How far the dinar flees from me,
For I am not its brother; someone else is its brother.
It is not my brother, but another's sibling.
فَأَصفَرُهُfor its yellow coin بُعاديmy estrangement كُلَّevery حُرٍّfreeborn man
فَأَصفَرُهُ بُعادي كُلَّ حُرٍّ
وَأَعداناand our worst enemies الفَرَنجُthe Franks فَهُمfor they بَنوهُits sons
وَأَعدانا الفَرَنجُ فَهُم بَنوهُ
For its yellow coin estranges me from every freeborn man.
My estrangement makes it pale and sallow,
And the Franks are our worst enemies, for they are its sons.
While the Franks adopt it as their own.
