منfrom لياليَّmy nights التيwhich لمdid not يهدأsubside الشوقlonging عليهاthroughout them
منfrom أمانيَّmy hopes التيwhich كانتْwere رُؤًىvisions فيin ناظريهاher eyes
From my nights through which longing never subsided,
From my hopes that were visions in her eyes,
منfrom أغانيَّmy songs التيwhich استلهمتُهاI drew inspiration for them منfrom شفتيهاher lips
منfrom دموعtears مازجَتْmingled with أدمعَهاher tears بينbetween يديهاher hands
From my songs whose inspiration I drew from her lips,
From tears that mingled with her tears in her presence,
كلُّall ماthat قدindeed رقَّwas tender منof شعريmy poetry وماand what راقَwas pleasing لديهاto her
وهوand it ماwhat ضمَّgathered كتابٌa book، هوit منهاfrom her وإليهاand to her
All that was tender in my poetry, and all that pleased her,
And this is what a book contains: it is from her and to her.
