I said, teasing her: “No, you have forgotten;
It was on your lips, and on your wrist.

If you deny it, what can I do?
And here it is, a flame in my blood.

Ask your lips what they felt
From the lips of a lovestruck poet.

Did you not close your eyes then?
And did you not shield yourself with both palms?

Suppose it was a blessing I received
And without intent—so do not regret it!

Doubled, to the mouth that bestowed it.”
