سَمَحتَyou gave freely بِأَمرٍin a matter لاnot يُطاقُcan be borne حفيظَةًout of protective zeal
سَمَحتَ بِأَمرٍ لا يُطاقُ حفيظَةً
وَصِدقاًand sincerity وَإِخوانُand brothers الحِفاظِof loyalty قَليلُare few
وَصِدقاً وَإِخوانُ الحِفاظِ قَليلُ
You freely undertook a deed beyond endurance, out of protective zeal,
You allowed something intolerable to the vigilant
You were generous in a matter unbearable to indignation,
And sincerity; brothers in loyalty are few.
And truly those who are vigilant are few
And truthfully so, for the brethren of loyalty are few.
جَزاكَmay He reward you إِلَهُthe God الناسِof mankind خَيراًwith good فَقَدfor indeed وَفَتhave kept faith
جَزاكَ إِلَهُ الناسِ خَيراً فَقَد وَفَت
يَداكَyour two hands بَفَضلِwith bounty ماwhat هُناكَthere جَزيلُabundant
يَداكَ بَفَضلِ ما هُناكَ جَزيلُ
May the God of mankind reward you well, for faithful have been
May God reward you well, for your hands
May the God of mankind reward you well, for your hands have fulfilled,
Your two hands in their bounty; abundant is what is there.
Have given bountifully of what they held
With the abundant bounty that resides therein.
