مَنwhoever لَمnot يَكُنbe عُنصُراًan essence طَيّباًgood
مَن لَم يَكُن عُنصُراً طَيّباً
لَمnot يَخرُجِcome out الطِّيبُgoodness مِنfrom فيهِhis mouth
لَم يَخرُجِ الطِّيبُ مِن فيهِ
Whoever is not good in essence,
He who is not a wholesome element
He who is not of a good essence,
no goodness comes from his mouth.
Goodness comes not from his mouth
No goodness shall issue from his mouth.
كُلُّevery اِمرئٍperson يُشبِهُهُresembles him فِعلهُhis deed
كُلُّ اِمرئٍ يُشبِهُهُ فِعلهُ
وَيَنضَحُand exudes الكُوزُthe jug بِماwith what فيهِin it
وَيَنضَحُ الكُوزُ بِما فيهِ
Every person's deed reflects him,
Every person resembles his own deeds
Every man's deeds resemble him,
and the jug exudes what is within it.
And the jug oozes what is in it
And the vessel exudes whatever it holds.
