فَمَنso whoever يَحمُدِpraises الدُنياthe world لِعَيشٍfor a life يَسُرُّهُthat pleases him
فَمَن يَحمُدِ الدُنيا لِعَيشٍ يَسُرُّهُ
فَسَوفَthen will لَعَمريby my life عَنafter قَليلٍa little while يَلومُهاhe blames it
فَسَوفَ لَعَمري عَن قَليلٍ يَلومُها
So whoever praises the world for a life that pleases him
So one who praises this life for pleasures that delight him
Whoever praises the world for a life that pleases him,
will, by my life, soon blame it.
Will surely, I swear, after a little while blame it
Shall soon, by my life, come to blame it.

When it draws near, it brings a person regret;
When fortunes come man is left with regret
If it advances, it brings regret to a man,
and if it turns away, its worries are many.
And when fortunes leave he is left with abundant worries
And if it retreats, its worries are abundant.
