فَلا تَفشِ سِرَّكَ إِلّا إِلَيكَ

فَلا تَفشِ سِرَّكَ إِلّا إِلَيكَ

فَإِنَّ لِكُلِّ نَصيحٍ نَصيحاً

فَإِنَّ لِكُلِّ نَصيحٍ نَصيحاً

So reveal your secret to none but yourself,

Do not reveal your secret except to yourself

Do not reveal your secret to anyone but yourself,

For every trusted adviser has a trusted adviser.

For every advisor has an advisor

For indeed, every confidant has a confidant of his own;

وَإِنّي رَأَيتُ غُواةَ الرِجالِ

وَإِنّي رَأَيتُ غُواةَ الرِجالِ

لا يَترُكونَ أَديماً صحيحاً

لا يَترُكونَ أَديماً صحيحاً

And indeed, I have seen the wayward among men:

And I have seen treacherous men

And I have seen the transgressors among men—

They leave no hide intact.

Who leave no whole skin

They leave no hide intact.
