أَياO مَنthe One who لَيسَthere is no لِيfor me مِنهُagainst Him مُجيرُprotector
بَعَفوكَthrough Your pardon مِنfrom عِقابِكَYour punishment أَستَجيرُI seek refuge
O You, against whom I have no protector,
O One from whom I have no protector,
Through Your pardon I seek refuge from Your punishment.
I seek refuge in Your pardon from Your punishment.
أَناI العَبدُthe servant المُقِرُّthe one confessing بِكُلِto every ذَنبٍsin
وَأَنتَand You السَيِّدُthe Master الصَمَدُthe Self-Sufficient الغَفورُthe All-Forgiving
I am the servant who confesses every sin,
I am the servant who acknowledges every sin,
And You are the Master, the Self-Sufficient, the All-Forgiving.
And You are the Master, the Eternal Refuge, the All-Forgiving.
فَإِنso if عَذَّبَتنيYou punish me فَالذَنبُthen the fault مِنّيfrom me
وَإِنand if تَغفِرYou forgive فَأَنتَthen You بِهِof it جَديرُworthy
So if You punish me, the fault is mine;
If You punish me, the fault is mine alone,
And if You forgive, You are worthy of it.
And if You forgive, You are truly worthy of such mercy.
