تَنَكَّرَ لِي دَهري وَلَم يَدرِ أَنَّني
أَعزُّmightier وَرَوعاتُand the terrors الخُطوبِthe calamities تَهونُdiminish
أَعزُّ وَرَوعاتُ الخُطوبِ تَهونُ
My fate turned against me, not knowing that I
My fate turned against me, unaware
Fate turned against me, unaware that I
am mightier, and the terrors of calamities diminish.
That I am too proud for troubles to unsettle me.
Am mightier, and the terrors of calamity are trivial.
فَظَلَّso it kept يُرينيshowing me الخَطبُthe calamity كَيفَhow اِعتِداؤُهُits assault
فَظَلَّ يُريني الخَطبُ كَيفَ اِعتِداؤُهُ
وَبِتُّand I spent the night أُريهِshowing it الصَبرَpatience كَيفَhow يَكونُit is
وَبِتُّ أُريهِ الصَبرَ كَيفَ يَكونُ
So calamity kept showing me what its assault was like,
So it kept showing me more troubles to test me,
So misfortune persisted in showing me the manner of its assault,
And I spent the night showing it what patience is.
While I showed it patience, demonstrating its strength.
And I persisted in showing it the nature of true patience.
