صَديقُfriend عَدُوّيmy enemy داخِلٌincluded فيin عَداوَتيmy enmity
صَديقُ عَدُوّي داخِلٌ في عَداوَتي
وَإِنّيand indeed I لِمَنtoward whoever وَدَّloves الصَديقَthe friend وَدودُaffectionate
وَإِنّي لِمَن وَدَّ الصَديقَ وَدودُ
My enemy's friend is subject to my enmity.
My enemy's friend is part of my enmity
The friend of my enemy is part of my enmity,
And I am affectionate toward whoever loves a friend.
Though I'm fond of those fond of a friend
And I am truly loving to him who loves a friend.
فَلاso do not تَقرَباapproach مِنيfrom me وَأَنتَwhile you are صَديقَهُhis friend
فَلا تَقرَبا مِني وَأَنتَ صَديقَهُ
فَإِنَّfor indeed الَّذيthat which بَينَbetween القُلوبِthe hearts بَعيدُdistant
فَإِنَّ الَّذي بَينَ القُلوبِ بَعيدُ
So do not approach me while you are his friend,
So don't come near whilst his friend you remain
So do not approach me while you remain his friend,
For the distance between our hearts is great.
For hearts' secrets are far, not near, nor can mend
For the distance between our hearts is vast.
