If you wish to live

If you wish life to be sweet, my friend,

If you truly wish to live

A life that is sweet to live,

Then cast away envy, stinginess and greed.

A life of sweet existence,

فَلا تَحسِد وَلا تَبخَل

فَلا تَحسِد وَلا تَبخَل

وَلا تَحرِص عَلى الدُنيا

وَلا تَحرِص عَلى الدُنيا

Then do not envy, nor be miserly,

Do not covet this fleeting world,

Then do not envy, nor be miserly,

And do not be greedy for this world.

And you will savor life's heavenly mead.

And do not crave the worldly realm.
