إِذاif كُنتَyou are لاnot تَدريyou know وَلَمand have not تَكُbeen سائِلاًasking
إِذا كُنتَ لا تَدري وَلَم تَكُ سائِلاً
عَنِabout العِلمِknowledge مَنone who يَدريknows جَهِلتَyou remained ignorant وَلَمand did not تَدرِyou know
عَنِ العِلمِ مَن يَدري جَهِلتَ وَلَم تَدرِ
If you do not know and have not sought
If you don't ask about knowledge, though ignorant you be,
If you do not know and do not ask
knowledge from one who knows, you remain ignorant and unaware.
You will remain in ignorance, for who can know but he?
about knowledge from one who knows, you are ignorant and do not realize
