الأَبرَجَ العَينِ العَظيمِ الحاويَة
I strike them, yet I do not see Muawiya,
I strike them though I see not Mu'awiyah
I strike them down, yet I do not see Muawiyah,
The large-eyed man with the great paunch.
The mansion, the fountain, the great enclosure
That wide-eyed one with the massive paunch,

هَوت بِهِ في النارِ أَمُّ هاويَة

جاوَرَهُ فيها كِلابٌ عاويَة
May a plunging mother bear him down into the Fire;
Into the fire with it fell a howling mother
May the Mother Abyss hurl him into the Fire,
May howling dogs dwell beside him there.
There dwells with it ravening dogs
To dwell therein alongside howling dogs,

أَغوى طَغاماً لا هَدَتهُ هاديَه
He led a rabble astray; may no guide guide him.
It led astray a horde with no guide to direct it
He led the riffraff astray—may no guide ever lead him right.
