تَحَرَّز مِن الدُنيا فَإِنَّ فَناءَها

مَحَلُّ فَناءٍ لا مَحَلُّ بَقاءِ

مَحَلُّ فَناءٍ لا مَحَلُّ بَقاءِ

Guard yourself against this world, for its courtyard

Beware of this world, for its demise

Guard yourself against the world, for its vast domain

is a place of perishing, not a place of permanence.

Is a place of extinction, not eternity.

Is an abode of transience, not an abode of permanence.

فَصَفوَتُها مَمزوجَةٌ بِكُدورَةٍ

فَصَفوَتُها مَمزوجَةٌ بِكُدورَةٍ

وَراحَتُها مَقرونَةٌ بِعَناءِ

وَراحَتُها مَقرونَةٌ بِعَناءِ

For its purity is mixed with murkiness,

Its purity is mixed with turbidity,

Its purity is mingled with murkiness,

and its comfort is coupled with hardship.

And its comfort coupled with misery.

And its comfort is coupled with toil.
