أَتَطلُبُdo you seek? رِزقَprovision اللَهِGod's مِنfrom عِندِwith غَيرِهِsomeone other than Him
أَتَطلُبُ رِزقَ اللَهِ مِن عِندِ غَيرِهِ
وَتُصبِحُand you become مِنfrom خَوفِfear العَواقِبِthe consequences آمِناsecure
وَتُصبِحُ مِن خَوفِ العَواقِبِ آمِنا
Do you seek God's provision from someone other than Him,
Do you seek God's provision from other than Him
Do you seek the provision of God from other than Him,
and become free of fear of the consequences?
And feel secure from the consequences of fear?
And remain secure from the fear of the consequences?
وَتَرضىand you accept بِصَّرافٍwith a money changer وَإِنand even if كانَhe is مُشرِكاًa polytheist
وَتَرضى بِصَّرافٍ وَإِن كانَ مُشرِكاً
ضَميناًa guarantor وَلاand not تَرضىyou accept بِرَبِّكَwith your Lord ضامِناa guarantor
ضَميناً وَلا تَرضى بِرَبِّكَ ضامِنا
And you accept a money changer, even if he is a polytheist,
You accept a money-changer, though he be an idolater
You are content with a moneychanger—even if he be an idolater—
as a guarantor, yet do not accept your Lord as guarantor.
As a guarantor, yet do not accept your Lord as Guarantor.
As a guarantor, yet you are not content with your Lord as Guarantor?
كَأَنَكَas though you لَمdid not تَقرَأَyou read بِماof what فيin كِتابِهِHis Book
كَأَنَكَ لَم تَقرَأَ بِما في كِتابِهِ
فَأَصبَحتَso you have become مَنحولَwasted away اليَقينِcertainty مُبايناestranged
فَأَصبَحتَ مَنحولَ اليَقينِ مُباينا
As though you had not read what is in His Book,
It is as if you have not read His Book
It is as though you have not read what is within His Book,
and so have become frail in certainty, estranged.
And so your faith has become twisted and divergent.
So you have become frail in certainty, drifting astray.
