جَزى اللَهُ خَيراً عُصبَةَ أَسلَميّةً

صِباحُ الوُجوهِ صُرِعّوا حَولَ هاشِمِ

May God reward with goodness the Aslamite band,

Of radiant countenances, struck down around Hashim;

شَقيقٌ وَعبَدُ اللَهِ بِشرٌ وَمَعبَدٌ

وَسُفيانَ وَاِبنا هاشِمٍ ذي المَكارِمِ

Shaqiq, and Abdullah, Bishr, and Ma'bad,

And Sufyan, and the two sons of Hashim, the man of noble deeds;

وَعُروَةُ لا يَنأى فَقَد كانَ فارِساً

إِذا الحَربُ هاجَت بِالقَنا وَالصَوارِمِ

And Urwah—who never retreated—for he was truly a knight

When war raged with hollow spears and sharp-edged swords;

إِذا اِختَلَفَ الأَبطالُ وَاَشتَبَكَ القَنا

وَكانَ حَديثُ القَومِ ضَربُ الجَماجِمِ

When heroes clashed and lances were entangled,

And the only discourse among the men was the striking of skulls.
