ذَهَبَhas departed الوَفاءُloyalty ذِهابَthe departure of أَمسِyesterday الذاهِبِgone by
ذَهَبَ الوَفاءُ ذِهابَ أَمسِ الذاهِبِ
فَالناسُso people بَينَbetween مُخاتِلٍa deceiver وَمُوارِبِand a dissembler
فَالناسُ بَينَ مُخاتِلٍ وَمُوارِبِ
Loyalty has gone the way of bygone yesterday.
Loyalty has vanished like the passing of yesterday,
So people are either deceivers or dissemblers.
And people are but deceivers and double-dealers.
يَفشونَthey spread بَينَهُمُamong themselves المَوَدَّةَaffection وَالصَفاand sincerity
يَفشونَ بَينَهُمُ المَوَدَّةَ وَالصَفا
وَقُلوبَهُمand their hearts مَحشُوَّةٌfilled بِعَقارِبِwith scorpions
وَقُلوبَهُم مَحشُوَّةٌ بِعَقارِبِ
They spread affection and sincerity among themselves,
They display affection and sincerity among themselves,
While their hearts are filled with scorpions.
While their hearts are stuffed with scorpions.
