وَدَعِ التَجَبُّرَ وَالتَكَبُّرَ يا أَخي

وَدَعِ التَجَبُّرَ وَالتَكَبُّرَ يا أَخي

إِن التَكَبُّرَ لِلعَبيدِ وَبيلُ

إِن التَكَبُّرَ لِلعَبيدِ وَبيلُ

And abandon tyranny and arrogance, O my brother.

Leave arrogance and pride, my brother

Leave aside tyranny and arrogance, O my brother,

Indeed, arrogance is ruinous for servants.

Pride is for slaves, and how vile!

For arrogance is a calamity for the servants of God.

وَاَجعَل فُؤادَكَ لِلتَواضُعِ مَنزِلاً

وَاَجعَل فُؤادَكَ لِلتَواضُعِ مَنزِلاً

إِن التَواضُعَ بِالشَريفِ جَميلُ

إِن التَواضُعَ بِالشَريفِ جَميلُ

And make your heart a dwelling for humility.

Make your heart a home for humility

And make your heart a dwelling place for humility,

Indeed, humility is beautiful in a noble person.

Humility in the noble is beautiful

For humility is beautiful in the noble soul.
