لَكَ الحَمدُ إِمّا عَلى نَعمَةٍ

لَكَ الحَمدُ إِمّا عَلى نَعمَةٍ

وَإِما عَلى نَقمَةٍ تُدفَعُ

وَإِما عَلى نَقمَةٍ تُدفَعُ

Praise is Yours, whether for a blessing

To You belongs all praise, whether for a blessing,

Or for an affliction averted.

Or for an affliction that is turned away.

تشاءُ فَتَفعَلُ ما شئتَهُ

تشاءُ فَتَفعَلُ ما شئتَهُ

وَتَسمَعُ مِن حَيثُ لا يُسمَعُ

وَتَسمَعُ مِن حَيثُ لا يُسمَعُ

You will, and so You do what You have willed.

You will, and thus You do whatever You have willed,

And You hear from where nothing is heard.

And You hear from where no sound is heard.
