وَبَذُلُهُ لِوَجهِهِ يُذِلُّهُ
A young man's patience with his poverty ennobles him.
The young man's patience in poverty ennobles him,
A young man's patience with his poverty exalts him,
And his sacrificing his dignity—his face—debases him.
And his generosity for its own sake debases him.
But the sacrificing of his dignity degrades him.

الخُبزُ لِلجائِعِ أَدمٌ كُلُّه
The least of his sustenance suffices a young man.
The least of livelihoods suffices the young man.
The very least of life suffices a man;
For the hungry, bread is relish, every bit of it.
For the hungry, all bread is sweet.
For to the hungry, bread is seasoning entire.
