A hearty welcome, then, to a guest who has arrived.

And I entrust to God a dear companion who has departed.

Youth has departed, as though it had never been.

And gray hair has settled in, as though it had always been.

As for gray hair, it is like dawn appearing.

And as for youth, it is like a full moon that has set.

May God water that and this alike.

How fine the departing one, then, and how fine the replacement!
