ماnot إِنemphasizing the negation تَأَوَّهتَyou sighed فيover شَيءٍanything رُزِئتَyou were afflicted بِهِby it
كَماas تَأَوَّهتَyou sighed لِلأَطفالِfor the children فيin الصِّغَرِchildhood
Never have you sighed over any loss you suffered
You have not sighed over any calamity that befell you,
As you sighed for the children in their tender years.
As you have sighed for the little ones in their youth;
قَدindeed ماتَhas died والِدُهُمtheir father مِنthe one who كانَused to يَكفُلُهُمprovide for them

Their father has died—the one who used to provide for them
Their father has died, the one who used to provide for them
In calamities, on journeys, and at home.
In times of adversity, in travel, and while at home.
