مِنَof الحَياةِlife وَلَكِنand yet سُنَّةَtradition الدينِthe faith
مِنَ الحَياةِ وَلَكِن سُنَّةَ الدينِ
We console you, not because we are assured
We offer you condolences, not that we are confident
of life, but in keeping with the tradition of the faith.
Of life ourselves, but as the custom of the faith;
فَلاso neither المُعَزَّيthe one consoled بِباقٍremaining بَعدَafter مِيتَتِهِhis death
فَلا المُعَزَّي بِباقٍ بَعدَ مِيتَتِهِ
وَلاand neither المُعَزِّيthe consoler وَلَوand even if عاشاboth lived إِلىuntil حينِa time
وَلا المُعَزِّي وَلَو عاشا إِلى حينِ
For the one consoled does not remain after his death,
For neither the one consoled shall remain after the dead,
nor does the consoler, even if both live for a time.
Nor the one consoling, though they live on for a while.
