لَقَدindeed كانَhe was ذاpossessed of جَدٍّgood fortune وَجَدَّand strove earnestly بِكُفرِهِin his unbelief
فَقيدٌa lost or deceased man إِلَيناto us فيin المَجامِعِthe assemblies يَعتَلِrises high
Indeed, he was a man of fortune, and strove earnestly in his unbelief.
He was determined in his disbelief, and persisted in it,
He was a man of determination, and he strove hard in his disbelief,
Lost to us, he rose high in assemblies.
A captive brought to us in assemblies, raving.
Advancing upon us in the gatherings, bearing himself with arrogance;
فَقَلَّدتُهُso I hung about his neck بِالسَيفِwith the sword ضَربَةَa blow of مَحفظٍan enraged man
فَسارَso he went إِلىto قَعرِthe depths of الجَحيمِHell يُكبَّلِbeing shackled
So with the sword I hung an enraged man’s blow about his neck.
I struck him with the sword, a single decisive blow,
So I adorned his neck with the sword—the blow of a zealous defender,
So he went to the depths of Hell, bound in fetters.
And he descended to the lowest depth of hell in chains.
And he journeyed to the abyss of Hell, bound in fetters.

لِأَمرِto the command of إِلَهِthe God of الخَلقِcreation فيin الخُلدِeternity يَنزِلِshall dwell
Such is the destination of unbelievers; and whoever obeys
Such is the fate of the unbelievers, but he who obeys
For that is the final return of the disbelievers, while he who obeys
The command of the God of creation shall dwell in eternity.
The command of God, Lord of all creatures, dwells in paradise forever.
The command of the God of Creation shall dwell in the Garden of Eternity.
