صُنِ السَرَ عَن كُلِّ مُستَخبِرٍ

وَحاذِر فَما الحَزمُ إِلّا الحِذِر

Guard the secret from every inquirer.

Keep your secret from each prying eye

Guard the secret from every inquirer,

And be wary, for prudence is nothing but caution.

And beware, for caution is the soul of care

And take heed, for prudence is nothing but caution.

أَسيرُكَ سِرُّكَ إِن صُنتَهُ

أَسيرُكَ سِرُّكَ إِن صُنتَهُ

وَأَنتَ أَسيرٌ لَهُ إِن ظَهَر

وَأَنتَ أَسيرٌ لَهُ إِن ظَهَر

Your secret is your captive if you guard it.

Your secret is your captive if concealed

Your secret is your captive if you conceal it,

And you are its captive if it comes to light.

While you are captive to it if revealed

But you are its captive if it is revealed.
