حَقيقٌworthy بِالتَواضُعِof humility مَنwhoever يَموتُdies
وَيَكفيand suffices الَمَرءَa man مِنfrom دُنياهُhis worldly life قوتُsustenance
Humility befits one who must die.
One who dies deserves humility,
He who is destined to die is truly worthy of humility,
And sustenance from his world suffices a man.
And the sustenance of this life suffices a person,
And from his world, mere sustenance suffices a man.
فَماso why لِلمَرءِwith a man يُصبِحُbecomes ذاpossessed of هُمومٍworries
وَحِرصٌand greed لَيسَnot تُدرِكُهُencompass it النُعوتُdescriptions
So why does a man become burdened with worries,
So why does a person start his day worried,
So what ails a man that he wakes possessed of worries,
And greed that descriptions cannot encompass?
With ambitions that titles do not fulfill,
And a greed that no description can encompass?
صَنيعُthe work مَليكِناof our Sovereign حَسَنٌgood جَميلٌbeautiful

Our Sovereign's work is good and beautiful,
The work of our King is good and beautiful,
The handiwork of our King is good and beautiful,
And our provisions will not pass us by.
And our sustenance does not escape from us,
And our destined provisions will never pass us by.
فَياso, O هَذاyou there سَتَرحَلُyou will depart عَنin قَريبٍa short while
إِلىto قَومٍa people كَلامُهُمُtheir speech سُكوُتُsilence
So, you there, you will soon depart
So O you! soon you will travel
So, O you, know that you shall depart quite soon
To a people whose speech is silence.
To a people whose speech is silence.
To a people whose speech is silence.
