وسلاتُWuslat كمhow often غرّwas deceived بمنby those who أمّتهُsought it
وسلاتُ كم غرّ بمن أمّتهُ
قُبّحshame بالمغروُرon the deluded والغادرand the treacherous
قُبّح بالمغروُر والغادر
Wuslat—how often it was deceived by those who sought it!
I asked many who betrayed their nation,
Shame on the deluded and the treacherous!
Cursed be the deceiver and betrayer
ماno معهُwith it منany قوةstrength منهمُfrom them
ما معهُ من قوة منهمُ
تُلفىcan be found ولاnor منany درهمdirham حاضرat hand
تُلفى ولا من درهم حاضر
It has no strength from them
He has no power or support from them
that can be found, nor a dirham at hand.
No money on hand or treasures to spend
أماdo you not ترىyou see تاريخهمtheir chronogram مالهمthey have no
أما ترى تاريخهم مالهم
منany قوةstrength معهwith it ولاnor ناصرhelper
من قوة معه ولا ناصر
Do you not see their chronogram: ‘They have no
Don't you see their history, they own nothing
strength with it, nor any helper’?
No power or helpers stand with them to defend
