The star of good fortune has ascended in your eminence.

And victory has been made eternal in your keen sword.

And Time never ceases to serve at your gate,

while against anyone but you it has ever remained rebellious.

Time has found solace in your justice, though for so long

it had been driven away by the oppression of foes.

And the nightingale of your glory's gardens, singing praise,

may it ever warble amid their spreading trees.

If a man were to rival you in eminence,

that rival would be stripped of your lofty glory.

If you are clothed in glory, anyone else is left bare of it,

and you see him chilled for lack of clothing.

O friends of Ibn al-Husayn, I see for you

a crown arrayed upon the head of al-Simak.

Thus you have restored the days as festive seasons,

and you guided erring Time, so it found the right path.

You displayed among the people pearls of noble deeds,

with which the neck of Time is now adorned.

Be assured that the Lord of the Throne has adorned your sword

with victory; may He never cut off what He has habitually granted you.

    أيهزُّ رضوى مرُّ ريح غرّدا

    Far be it from one like you to be shaken by misfortune;

can a passing, singing wind shake Radwa?

And rejoice in the destruction of all the corrupters,

before long: indeed, it will not be far off.

For the conquest of Jammal has become a herald to you

of Waslat's conquest in the very near future.

Your forbearance has emboldened the enemies, so they donned

the cloak of wrongdoing and headed for the paths of ruin.

The trade of Jammal's people suffered loss, and did not

profit when they bought error in exchange for guidance.

    أرأيت قطّا في القطوط استأسدا

    A people defied you, likening themselves to lions;

have you seen a cat among cats become a lion?

Grant that your forbearance deceived them; yet have not

the bright stars of good fortune decreed the foes' destruction for you?

May you rejoice, my lord, in this victory, which

has ever been your sword's companion, eternally.

May you ever ride upon the crown of eminence,

in glory, upheld throughout the passage of time.
