The battalions of my patience were torn apart by his eyes;
His patient battalions were torn by her eyes,
so they complained of what ailed them in the lashes.
So I complained of what was between them in private.

My reproacher says, “His eyelids have indeed complained,
Uthooli says his eyelids have become wrinkled,
and that is a fault.” I said, “You are not right:
I said that is no blemish, you are not right,

They have no fault, save that their swords
There is no blemish in them, except that their swords
bear notches from clashing with battalions.”
Against them are remnants from striking the battalions.
