Sickness has testified that I am in love with you.
Illness testified that for you I am a lover
Indeed, sickness is the truest witness against me.
Indeed illness upon me is the most truthful witness

By God, what a gazelle, fleeing from my eyelids!
For God's sake, doe, distract my eyelids no more
I wonder: shall I win union with that fleeing one?
Will I attain union with that distracted one, I wonder

Your charms have dazzled humankind, so they are
Your beauty has dazzled people, for they are
Either yearning for you or looking on.
Between one enamored of you and witness
ياO منone who يُجاهدُنيfights me بسيفwith the sword لحاظهhis glances
إنif متُّI die قلsay هذاthis قتيلُone slain مُجاهدa warrior
O you who fight me with the sword of your glances,
O you who struggles against me with the sword of your glance
If I die, say: 'This is one slain by a warrior.'
If I die, say this was a martyr in struggle
