O you whose affection is sincere towards me
And whose eminence keeps increasing,
And who is ever on the increase in the Highest

And whom the banner of eminence has embraced,
And who is protected by the banner on high
By it, you stand unrivaled among humankind.
To him belongs the uniqueness of leadership in all the lands

This is your servant Salih, who has come to you,
This, your servant, has come to you upright
Yielding in obedience.
Inclined towards obedience in every way

عنه ففي ذلك السّدادُ
So look kindly on his excuse, and be lenient
So treat him with kindness and turn a blind eye
With him, for that is the right course.
For in doing so lies righteousness

No ill intention toward you has arisen
His intention towards you has never been corrupted
From Salih—no, nor any ill purpose.
Nor the intention of any upright soul

And have you heard that there could ever be,
And have you ever heard that there comes a day
In all time, corruption from Salih?
When from the righteous comes corruption?
