O you who ask me about the state of Saʿd and al-Labāsh,
O you who ask of Saad and Labba's state,
both are in the company of beardless youths.
Both are in the company of the youths,
فهماfor they both كماas تدريyou know إذاwhenever ماan emphatic particle أبصراthey both see
فهما كما تدري إذا ما أبصرا
ظبياa gazelle يميسُsways gracefully قوامُهُhis figure كالبانlike a bān tree
ظبيا يميسُ قوامُهُ كالبان
For you know how they both are whenever they see
For as you know, when they espy,
a gazelle whose figure sways like a bān tree.
