ياO وليّholder of الأمرauthority آتاكmay He grant you العلىلاglory; not (العُلى لا)
يا وليّ الأمر آتاك العلىلا
يختشيfears الزّرعُthe crops منfrom العربthe Arabs فسادهُits ruin
يختشي الزّرعُ من العرب فسادهُ
O ruler, may you be granted glory! Not
O ruler, you have been granted a high station
from the Arabs do the crops fear their ruin.
The crops need not fear ruin by the bedouins
ماnot فسادُruin الزرعthe crops منfrom عُربArabs ولكنbut
ما فسادُ الزرع من عُرب ولكن
أرسلsent اللهُGod علىupon الزرعthe crops جرادهHis locusts
أرسل اللهُ على الزرع جراده
The crops’ ruin comes not from Arabs, but
It is not the bedouins who ruin the crops
God has sent His locusts upon the crops.
But it is God who sends locusts upon them
