لقد سدّى على يده حريرا

لقد سدّى على يده حريرا

وأبرمهُ بريق منهُ شهد

وأبرمهُ بريق منهُ شهد

Indeed, he laid out a silk warp upon his hand,

He embroidered silk with his hand

and twisted it with his saliva, which was honey.

And connected it with a flash of honey

فصاح فمي ألا ليت أني

فصاح فمي ألا ليت أني

حريرٌ أحمرٌ بيد المسدّي

حريرٌ أحمرٌ بيد المسدّي

So my mouth cried, "Ah, if only I were

So my mouth called out, oh if only

red silk in the warp-maker’s hand!"

I were red silk in the hand of the embroiderer
