قد قُلتُ عند وُضُوئه في غُسله

قد قُلتُ عند وُضُوئه في غُسله

وجها لهُ كالبدر عند كماله

وجها لهُ كالبدر عند كماله

I said, during his ablutions, as he washed

When he performed ablution and washed

His face, like the moon at its fullest:

His face shone like the full moon

يا ليت بعضي كان كف يمينه

يا ليت بعضي كان كف يمينه

والبعضُ منّي كان كّف شماله

والبعضُ منّي كان كّف شماله

Oh, would that part of me were the palm of his right hand,

Oh, if only part of me were his right palm

And another part of me were the palm of his left hand.

And part of me were his left palm
