I fell in love with him, honey-sweet of mouth and clad in a short tunic.
I hung from his sweet lips a polished ring
The fixed, brilliant stars shine when he appears.
That shines when his steady teeth appear
يُكلّمنيhe speaks to me بينamong الوُشاةthe tale-bearers بمقلةwith an eye
يُكلّمني بين الوُشاة بمقلة
فيعريand so he reveals ليto me عنconcerning قصدهhis intent وهوwhile he صامتُsilent
فيعري لي عن قصده وهو صامتُ
He speaks to me with his eye amid the tale-bearers.
He speaks to me with a wink among the cups
So he lays bare his intent to me while he is silent.
Revealing his desire though he is silent
