ليس فيهنّ يملكُ الصّبُّ صبره
I beheld legs of pearl on the sons of the Turks.
The legs of my beloved are like stalks of pearls
In their presence, the lovesick lover cannot keep his patience.
No youth can restrain his passion for them

باع بسوق التّرك قلبي بنظره
My reason fled whenever it beheld them, and my eye
I lose my mind whenever I see them, and my eyes
Sold my heart in the Turks’ market with its glance.
Sell my heart in the slave-market with just a glance
