بسفكby shedding دمblood الصّبّthe ardent lover المتيّمenthralled by love همّهُhis aim
بسفك دم الصّبّ المتيّم همّهُ
كسفكlike the shedding of عليAli باشاPasha دماءblood عداتهhis enemies
كسفك علي باشا دماء عداته
His aim is to shed the blood of the ardent, love-enthralled lover,
With the shedding of the blood of the enamored youth his care,
As Ali Pasha sheds the blood of his enemies.
As Ali Pasha shed the blood of his enemies,
ألمdid ... not? ترyou see سيفthe sword اللّحظthe glance منهُfrom him مجرّداunsheathed
ألم تر سيف اللّحظ منهُ مجرّدا
وذاكand that دمblood القتلىthe slain علىupon وجناتهhis cheeks
وذاك دم القتلى على وجناته
Have you not seen the sword of his glance unsheathed?
Have you not seen the naked sword of the moment from him,
And that is the blood of the slain upon his cheeks.
And the blood of the slain upon his cheeks?
