فحالand he barred the way بمرآهُby the sight of him دُونbefore الحجاreason
فحال بمرآهُ دُون الحجا
He appeared with his leg laid bare,
Revealing himself upon his leg, exposing
And the sight of him barred the way to reason.
His state with his mirror, hindering pilgrimage
تراهُyou see him إذاwhen ماever (emphatic) بداhe appears سائراwalking
تراهُ إذا ما بدا سائرا
منof النّورthe light ساريةa pillar فيin الدُّجىthe darkness
من النّور سارية في الدُّجى
You see him, whenever he appears walking,
You see him when he starts to walk
As a pillar of light in the darkness.
