أرى الشّرفين ليس لهم عُهودٌ

أرى الشّرفين ليس لهم عُهودٌ

وعُذرهمُ بصاحبهم حثيثُ

وعُذرهمُ بصاحبهم حثيثُ

I see the nobles keep no pledges,

And their excuse for their companion comes swiftly.

فأحسنهم وأحمدُهم قبيحٌ

فأحسنهم وأحمدُهم قبيحٌ

ومذُمومٌ بذا شاع الحديثُ

ومذُمومٌ بذا شاع الحديثُ

So their finest and most praiseworthy are ugly

And blameworthy; word of this has spread.

وإنّ عليهم أبدا وضيعٌ

وإنّ عليهم أبدا وضيعٌ

تراه وإنّ طيبّهم خبيثُ

تراه وإنّ طيبّهم خبيثُ

And indeed their exalted one is forever lowly,

As you see him; and indeed their good one is vile.
