1. قالوا لشعرك طورا

    قطعٌ وأخرى اندفاعُ

    They said, “Your poetry at times

    breaks off, and at others rushes forth.”

  2. فقلتُ شعري رقيقٌ

    وللرّقيق انقطاعُ

    So I said, “My poetry is delicate,

    and delicate things are liable to break.”
