ونفّةand a pinch of snuff أخذتُهاI took it
ونفّة أخذتُها
منfrom كفّthe palm ذيone with ودّaffection صفيpure
من كفّ ذي ودّ صفي
And a pinch of snuff I took
from the palm of one whose affection was pure.
ماnot مسّهاtouched it ذُوone with مرضan illness
ما مسّها ذُو مرض
إلاexcept that وفيand at الحينthat instant شُفيhe was cured
إلا وفي الحين شُفي
No sick person touched it
without being cured that very instant.
