وللّهand, by God ظيunclear; possibly ‘gazelle’ غداhas become قدُّهُhis figure
وللّه ظي غدا قدُّهُ
يجورُacts unjustly بعدلwith justice وعنّيand away from me يميلُturns
يجورُ بعدل وعنّي يميلُ
By God, a [gazelle?] whose figure has come
God's shadow tomorrow extends
to be unjust with justice and turn away from me.
With justice it sways and care it tends
فواجُبُso the binding nature of حبّيmy love لهُfor him ماnot استحالhas changed
فواجُبُ حبّي لهُ ما استحال
عليهtoward him وهلand can واجبٌsomething necessary يستحيلُbecome impossible
عليه وهل واجبٌ يستحيلُ
So my binding love for him has not changed
My love for Him is duty bound
toward him—and can what is necessary become impossible?
Impossible? What duty is not sound?
