مُخجل للغزال بل والغزاله
And a guileless youth, radiant of face and smooth-cheeked,
With radiant, beaming cheeks, flowing free
putting the gazelle to shame—indeed, even the sun.
More bashful than a doe, nay, than a fawn
ماnot أرىI see الصبّthe lovesick lover ناظراgazing منهُat him إلاexcept
ما أرى الصبّ ناظرا منهُ إلا
ودعاand called out ناظراهُhis two eyes أنsaying ياO سيالهSayyalah
ودعا ناظراهُ أن يا سياله
I never see the lovesick lover gazing at him without
Whenever I see youth gaze upon them
his two eyes calling out, 'O Sayyalah!'
His eyes do plead “Oh, kindly flow on!”
