وكلّ على القلب مُستنكر
ثقيلheavy كدينlike a debt علىupon مُعسرan insolvent person
ثقيل كدين على مُعسر
And a burden on the heart, repugnant,
Everything about him is repulsive
Heavy as a debt upon an insolvent man.
Like a debt to one impoverished

He is called Tahir (“pure”), yet if
He's called pure yet if his filth
His filth mingled with the sea, the sea would not become pure.
Was dropped in the sea, it wouldn't be cleansed

على أنّهُ سيّءُ المنظر
And Iblis seeks refuge from his ugliness,
Even Iblis seeks refuge from his ugliness
Though he himself is ugly to behold.
Though he's foul in appearance

And if the wind carried anything from his sea
If the wind carried his stench
To India’s perfumer, it would not become fragrant.
To fragrant India, it wouldn't be sweetened
