A glance of an eye plunged me into terrors,
at a gazelle whose wandering within my heart only grew.
At a gazelle, increasing its elusiveness within my heart.

فلهُ في كناس قلبي لبودٌ
منهُfrom it مبداthe beginning البلاaffliction وأهوىand I love لبودهits lying hidden
منهُ مبدا البلا وأهوى لبوده
There, in the covert of my heart, he lies couched;
For it lies hidden in the lair of my heart;
