ألا قُل لأحمد لا ينصرف

ألا قُل لأحمد لا ينصرف

فإنّي على حبّه مُعتكف

فإنّي على حبّه مُعتكف

Listen, tell Ahmad not to depart.

Tell Ahmad not to leave,

For I am devoted to loving him.

For I'm sworn to love him still.

وكن عاطفا يا قضيب النّقا

وكن عاطفا يا قضيب النّقا

فإنّ قضيب النّقا ينعطف

فإنّ قضيب النّقا ينعطف

And be tender, O branch of the sand dune,

And tenderness, O slender one, display

For the branch of the sand dune bends.

For the slender bough is bowed.

وانو انصرافك عن مُهجتي

وانو انصرافك عن مُهجتي

فتنشد أحمد لا ينصرف

فتنشد أحمد لا ينصرف

And intend your departure from my heart,

If from my love your heart should stray

Then you will recite: “Ahmad does not depart.”

Ahmad will never go away.
