A night grew short in which I had
The night was brief when I was with my radiant sun
met with the sun of beauty.
How can the night claim length over me
فكيفso how للّيلfor the night فضلُadvantage طُولlength
فكيف للّيل فضلُ طُول
عليّover me والشّمسُwhile the sun فيin الذّراعthe arm
عليّ والشّمسُ في الذّراع
So how can the night have the advantage of length
When the sun is in my embrace
over me, while the sun is in my arms?
