جَمَعتَyou combined أَمرَينِtwo things ضاعَwas lost الحَزمُprudence بَينَهُماbetween them both
تيهَhaughtiness المُلوكِof kings وَأَفعالَand the deeds المَماليكِof slaves
You combined two traits, with prudence lost between them:
You combined two matters, losing composure between them
The haughtiness of kings and the deeds of slaves.
The confusion of kings and the deeds of slaves
أَرَدتَyou sought شُكراًgratitude بِلاwithout بِرٍّgenerosity وَمَرزِئَةٍand expense
لَقَدindeed سَلَكتَyou have taken طَريقاًa path غَيرَnot مَسلوكِtrodden
You sought gratitude without generosity or expense;
You wanted gratitude without righteousness and integrity
Indeed, you have taken an untrodden path.
Indeed, you have taken an untrodden path
ظَنَنتَyou thought عِرضَكَyour honor لاnot يُرمىwould be struck بِقارِعَةٍby a crushing blow
وَماand not أراكَI see you عَلىunder حالٍany circumstances بِمَتروكِleft alone (emphatic)
You thought your honor would not be struck by a crushing blow,
You thought your honor would not be hit with calamities
Yet I do not see you being left alone under any circumstances.
Yet I do not see you in a neglected state
